Child-Friendly Schools –Theme Song Competition - 2019
The MoEYI, through the National College for Educational Leadership (NCEL), in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will be building on the digital literacy of principals by developing and providing digital content through its Learning Management Systems (LMS) and any other available MoEYI online platforms that will strengthen the leadership and management of Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) in Jamaica.
To this end and as a precursor to the launch of the pilot of the CFS online course for principals, the MoEYI/NCEL and UNICEF will be hosting a Song Champs Competition.
Please be advised that on August 16, 2019 application for the Song Champs competition opens to all schools’ Performing Arts Groups. It closes on September 6, 2019.
School Leaders should:
- Conduct school-wide sensitisation about the CFS Song Champs
- Encourage teachers to research on the CFS approaches
- Invite all stakeholders to engage in the competition
The following should also be noted:
- Visit ncel.gov.jm and click the competition link
- Complete the entry form by September 6, 2019
- Upload video via the website by September 29, 2019
- Like and follow @NCELJamaica on Facebook and Instagram to like and share your video
- Voting will begin on October 4, 2019 October 18, 2019.
A cadre of judges will listen to the performances at the Sing Off during the launch of the CFS: Jamaica online Leadership course on October 31, 2019 at a venue to be announced.
The overall winner of the CFS Song Champs competition will receive song rights and be featured in the annual course opening. The school will also be featured in a newspaper article and receive a gift certificate from Music Mart.
Principals are being encouraged to make every effort to have their performing arts groups enter this competition and are asked to ensure that the established standards for the signing of parent consent and media release forms are maintained. Parental permission is to be sought, obtained and documented.
